hymn lyrics:
NCH 175     “O Christ, the Healer, We Have Come”     Text: Fred Pratt Green, 1967; Tune: “Kentridge,” Richard Gieseke, 1988.
v. 1:  O Christ, the healer, we have come to pray for health, to plead for friends.  How can we fail to be restored when reached by love that never ends?
v. 2:  From every ailment flesh endures our bodies clamor to be freed.  Yet in our hearts we would confess that wholeness is our deepest need.
v. 3:  In conflicts that destroy our health we recognize the world’s disease; our common life declares our ills.  Is there no cure, O Christ, for these?
v. 4:  Grant that we all, made one in faith, in your community may find the wholeness that, enriching us, shall reach and prosper humankind.
NCH 302     Eternal Christ, You Rule    Text: Dan Damon, 1990; Tune: “Throckmorton,” Dan Damon, 1990.
v. 1:  Eternal Christ, you rule keeping company with pain; enduring ridicule, rejected, still you reign.
v. 2:  Eternal Christ, you rule speaking pardon from the cross; forgiving pounded nails; death did its worst and lost.
v. 3:  Eternal Christ, you rule taking children by the hand; the proud return to school; the meek receive the land.
v. 4:  Eternal Christ, you rule fasting forty days alone; the tempter played the fool, expecting bread from stone.
v. 5:  Eternal Christ you rule keeping company with pain; with love and truth as tools, come build in us your reign.
